Boost immunity in kids

Is your child prone to falling ill in short periods? Does he catch the cold and flu very easily? If yes, then it points towards the low immunity of your baby. Immunity starts developing in the mother’s womb, getting antibodies available in her body and keeps strengthening as the age advances.

Now, let’s first look at what is immunity? It is the capability of the body to fight against any foreign microorganism that enters the body. in response, our multicellular body develops antibodies. These antibodies once developed remain there for the lifetime of a person so that the same foreign organism is not able to cause any harm.

Vaccinations given to the babies are developed on the same concept. Through vaccines, the milder bacteria or virus of the particular disease is injected into the body of the baby so that antibodies develop and prevent the baby from future disease.

So the immune system of the baby needs to be strong to fight against foreign organisms.

Here we are providing you with ways to boost the immunity in kids:

1. Mustard oil in navel

The oiling of the belly button is an age old practice spanning thousands of years. After conceiving the development of a baby starts from the navel only. So it is the focal point of all the nerves of the human body.

Oiling the navel transfers the same to all the nerves of the body and boosts immunity. Coconut oil and mustard oil both are beneficial for developing strong immunity in the kids.

  • Apply oil generously to the belly bottom of your baby before going to bed at night.

2. Sunlight

Sunlight is the most important immunity booster for every human. It is required by an adult body too. Babies too should be exposed to sunlight at regular intervals in the day.  Don’t keep them in a closed room. Take them into the sunlight as much as possible. Sun is the greatest source of Vitamin D which keeps the bones strong and lean.

  • The rays coming out from the rising sun are extremely beneficial.
  • Then, the timing between 12 to 1 PM.
  • In the evening, between 4-5 PM before the sunsets.

3. Take off warm clothes at bedtime in winters

It’s common for the parents to layer up their child in multiple clothes in winters or cold weather. While this layering is beneficial during the daytime to save her from cold winds, it becomes harmful if done at bedtime. Warm clothes while sleeping can cause overheating and the child is not always able to convey the same to you.

Overheating would lead to dehydration, sweating, irritability, and poor quality of sleep. And in some serious cases, it can lead to death too commonly called SIDS (Sudden Infant Death Syndrome).

And all these factors combined reduce the immunity of the child over a period of time.

4. Breast milk

Breast milk is the best immunity builder. It contains all the nutrients and antibodies required for overall development and protection against any type of disease. Breast milk is the greatest source of nutrition and immunity developer in a person’s life. A human who gets a proper amount of breast milk in his infant period would become strong, and healthy for his entire life.

5. Allow him to play in the dirt
