Common Cold catches those frequently with weaker immunity. Weather changes, pollution in the air, cold are some of the factors contributing to the Common Cold.
Congestion, running nose, sneezing, headache are accompanied with a common cold. These problems transfer the suffering person into very bad state and interfere with the routine life.
So here we have some Home Remedies for Common Cold:
1. Ginger-Tulsi Tea
Ginger and tulsi are the best and traditional herbs available to treat the common cold. They have ayurvedic medicinal properties, aromatic and also makes tea delicious to drink.
Ginger is little spicy and helps lessen the inflammation of mucous membrane and the sinus cavity. So when inflammation reduces, mucous or phlegm flows out easily instead of getting jammed up in the nose.
⦁ Make normal tea with few tulsi leaves and ginger seeped in.
⦁ Drink the hot cup of tea.
⦁ And just lie down to have some rest.
2. Kadha or herbal concoction
Kadha is the old time best ayurvedic medicines preferred to treat any type of ailment. For common cold also there are herbs which smell good and treats common cold instantly. Herbs are Ginger, Cinnamon, black pepper.
⦁ Take one glass of water.
⦁ Boil the water with a pinch of these herbs in it.
⦁ Simmer the gas and boil the water so that essence of these herbs mix well with water.
⦁ Drink the hot kadha in sips.
The steam of this hot kadha if breath soothes down the inflamed mucous.
3. Roughage Halwa
Roughage of wheat flour is beneficial in many ways. It adds up to the fiber intake of our body and thus helps relieve constipation. Also, It can be eaten in the form of hot ‘Halwa’. Spices like black pepper are also added to halwa along with ghee and sugar.
Black pepper has the hot property that treats the cold internally and provides warmth to our body.
4. Mustard oil and camphor
Most of the treatments for common cold involves the intake of warmth to reduce the congestion. So massaging or rubbing Balm on chest, neck and nose do the same thing.
Mustard oil and camphor when mixed together also work as a very nice balm.
- Heat some mustard oil.
- Add crushed camphor in it
- Apply the mixture on your chest.
- Lay down covered in a blanket.
The warmth of this mixture will penetrate your body and provide instant relief.
5. Steam
Steam is also a very effective remedy for common cold. It helps loose out the jammed phlegm in the nose and thus allows it to flow out.
Hot water with vapours coming out is very good to inhale as it relieves the aching nose and throat instantly. It is more beneficial when few drops of oil like Tea Tree oil and Eucalyptus oil are mixed. These oils have antibacterial properties that help fight away any bacteria in our body and they enter into our body via steam.
⦁ Take a mug full of steaming water.
⦁ Add 2- 3 drops of oil.
⦁ Take your face close to mug.
⦁ Drape a towel over your face in the way that steam comes directly from mug to your face.
⦁ Inhale the steam slowly.
⦁ Repeat the process 2-3 times daily for fast relief.
6. Pine oil
Pine oil is a natural sanitizer for your room. It kills the common cold and other viruses present in the air.
Airborne microbes are the main reason behind many contagious diseases like common cold, influenza, cough etc. It also removes the bad odour of the room.
- Add some drops of pine oil to the diffuser and let it sanitize the room.
- Take the steam of pine oil so to open the blocked nose.
7. Mushroom
